MODERN SCIENCE AWAKENS TO THE POWER OF THE BREATH

John Bradshaw, Drs. Andrew Weil, Deepak Chopra, Dean Ornish, Len Saputo, Sheldon Hendler, Gabriel Cousens, and James Biddle all stress the importance of healthy breathing.

The infant stages of respiratory psychophysiology is beginning to link strong relationships between breathing, physical and psychological health and well being. Practically every spiritual discipline or religion that ever was has several breathing exercises to get its members closer to spirit, their inner selves and connection with their form of God or higher power. Chanting, singing, wailing, crying, humming, war dance shouting, even the didgeridoo all have the breath as their main component.

How we breathe carries into every health problem existing in medicine. Yet medical science has yet to establish criteria for what is healthy breathing. If you don’t know what healthy breathing looks and feels like, how are you going to know if it is getting better or worse? Heading towards aliveness or slipping towards illness or death.

One can detect respiratory faults, accessory breathing muscles, and unbalanced breathing through a few self tests. The problems can be largely eliminated by your self or with the help of a skilled breathing coach.

In private sessions I assess for breathing blocks primarily in two ways. The Tests page  plus approximately 150 additional factors (see below) .  From these we can determine which EXERCISES AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS may be most beneficial. Each CRITICAL AREA is linked to a series of EXERCISES AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS in the manual.

I will suggest an exercise program, a special breathing tape or a phone consultation tied to the tapes and exercises in my on-going study of the breath called The Secrets of Optimal Breathing manual which you may want to purchase so that you can have illustrations of the appropriate exercises.

As you progress with your Optimal Breathing Program you will experience a lessening of negative issues and an increase of positive ones.  See many of these choices below.

This list is not complete and just to give you an idea of what can be influenced by better breathing. The manual or a phone session will give you the most up to date version. Please do not fill it out and send it to me if you are not planning on doing private phone or in-person work with me.
