Danielle Rose, MD, NMD, SEP

Dr. Rose has always been fascinated with biological sciences since her graduation from Salem College and the NASA sponsored Space Life Sciences Training Program. She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and then did an internship in Family Practice and residency in Pediatrics at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. After 13 years as a traditional pediatrician she began to develop an interest in alternative and complementary medicine at the urgings of her patients. She studied intuitive energy healing and then embarked upon her Naturopathic work while practicing pediatrics full time. She then opened a solo practice dedicated to holistic care for two years and pursued training in Somatic Experiencing, a trauma healing technique developed by another NASA researcher Peter Levine, PhD. She became the Medical Director of Charlotte Metro Hyperbaric in 2008.

It was through the Charlotte Metro Hyperbaric Center that she met Mike White and began studying his Optimal Breathing program both personally and as a means of helping patients maximize their healing potential while pursuing hyperbaric therapy. During their collaboration she and Mike discovered a mutual appreciation of somatic experiencing, use of oxygen and exercise, and core nutritional support to help promote healing.

“I feel that Mike’s analysis of the breath and use of multiple techniques and exercises to shift the patient/client into a better pattern and give them the feedback to feel that pattern is exponentially helpful in their overall health. The patient/client receives almost immediate feedback as to what a proper deep breath should feel like and begins to experience the body in a new, more relaxed way. If they continue the work long enough to be able to tell when they fall back into poor patterns, then they can really begin on a journey toward healing and improved health. Moreover he does it in a manner with absolutely minimal side effects, reactions or interactions, unlike most pharmaceuticals.”

I have long been bothered by the significant variation in patients’ abilities to take a deep breath on exam but was always taught it was due to individual variation. Hindsight being 20:20, I now know their breathing mechanics were out of balance and needed some coaching to be put right. I began incorporating some yoga breathing instruction for those whose breathing was ‘backwards’ but Mike’s instruction has expanded my understanding so much more deeply.  It is my desire to help Mike find ways to get his teaching to other physicians, health practitioners and educators as a first line of intervention for many stress and cognition related approaches.”

Danielle Rose, M.D. received her B.A. magna cum laude from Salem College and her M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia.  She holds a Naturopathic medical degree from Clayton College of Natural Health and has practiced medicine for 15 years.  Dr. Rose uses her vast knowledge of medical practice to blend traditional and holistic complementary therapies.  She serves as Medical Director for Charlotte Metro Hyperbarics and owns Holistic Medical Consultants. 
 
Anne McIntosh, Ph.D. received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her M.A. from the University of Montana at Missoula and her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.  She has taught communication at the post-secondary level for over two decades and works in the private sector to help businesses and organizations improved communication.  Her previous books include Sometimes I Talk, Sometimes I Sign and A Montana Love Affair.
